Head X-ray in Dnipro

Head X-ray in Dnipro: prices — from 460 UAH

Head X-ray (X-ray of the skull) is a fast, painless and at the same time informative method of radiodiagnosis that is used to examine the head organs. Head X-ray allows visualization of bone structures and soft tissue formations of the skull. The human skull is divided into two sections:

  • facial region of the skull (represented by the upper and lower jaw, nasal bones);
  • cerebral section of the skull (includes the frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital bones and bones of the skull base).

The bones of the facial skull are connected by joints. The bones of the cerebral part of the skull are closely adjacent to each other, forming seams at the points of contact. The bone structure of the cerebral section of the skull creates reliable protection of the brain against traumatic injuries.

Indications for a head X-ray

X-ray of skull bones is performed to diagnose diseases of a different nature. The indications for head X-ray are the following:

  • trauma (trauma of facial and brain regions, nose trauma, suspected fracture of skull base);
  • infectious and inflammatory diseases of ENT organs (sinusitis, otitis, inflammation of mastoid bone);
  • endocrinological disorders (visualization of the location of the main pituitary gland – in the sella turcica at the skull base);
  • neurological disorders (headaches, impaired consciousness, dizziness);
  • neoplasms of the skull bones;
  • congenital anomalies of skull bones;
  • diseases of oral cavity and jaw apparatus in dental practice.

Skull X-ray results should only be evaluated by a doctor. To diagnose head injuries and degenerative disorders of the osteo-ligamentous apparatus of the facial section of the skull, it is necessary to visit a traumatologist. In order to clarify the nature of a headache, you should make an appointment with a neurologist. Diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses are diagnosed and treated by an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT-specialist). Orbital radiography is used in ophthalmic diagnostics.

Contraindications for a head X-ray

X-ray examinations are contraindicated in women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. At this time, X-ray examinations can only be carried out for health reasons. To avoid unnecessary examinations and, as a result, unnecessary radiological load on the brain, a head scan should be performed only by medical prescription. For more information about the condition of head organs, computed tomography (CT) of the brain may be recommended.
