Treatment of spinal osteochondrosis in Cherkasy

Treatment of spinal osteochondrosis in Cherkasy: consultation price — from 600 UAH

Spinal osteochondrosis means the gradual destruction of the cartilage layer between the vertebrae causing the disturbance of innervation and blood supply to the spinal column and spinal cord.

In a healthy state, the space between the vertebrae is filled with elastic disks that perform a depreciation function. But hypodynamia, constant forced sitting position, unbalanced nutrition or injuries lead to compaction, abrasion or other destruction of the fibrous ring. Due to the wear of the disk, the vertebra "shrinks", dislocates relative to other parts of the spine, pinching the vessels and nerves.

Neuropathologists distinguish several types of osteochondrosis:

  • cervical vertebral osteochondrosis. Most often diagnosed in office workers. The prevalence of the disease is also due to the fact that the disks between the cervical vertebrae are the thinnest and most fragile. The curvature of the spine compresses the vessels that feed the brain causing nervous system disorders;
  • thoracic osteochondrosis. It is less common, but especially difficult to diagnose. Signs of damage resemble diseases of the cardiovascular system. Compressive pain in the chest appears, cardiac function, as well as the function of lungs, gastrointestinal tract is disrupted;
  • spinal osteochondrosis. It provokes acute pain spreading to the lower back, lower abdomen, buttocks and thighs. The blood supply to the lower extremities worsens, which leads to their weakening, impaired mobility and decreased sensitivity.

In complicated cases, multisegmental osteochondrosis can be diagnosed which involves at once several spinal regions.

Causes and symptoms

Neuropathologists distinguish several reasons for osteochondrosis development. The risk group includes people of all ages who lead a sedentary lifestyle, abuse alcohol and cigarettes. An unbalanced diet when the body does not receive enough micro and macro elements also cause degenerative disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Other causes are the following:

  • mechanical injuries of spine;
  • derangement of metabolism;
  • overweight;
  • increased load on the spine (physically hard work, intense sports, pregnancy).

Signs of pathology depend on the location of the problem. But the most common symptoms include the following:

  • back pain shooting up to the upper or lower extremities, chest, ribs;
  • disturbances in functioning of the respiratory, cardiovascular systems, gastrointestinal tract;
  • dizziness, headaches, and poor memory and attention;
  • decreased hearing and vision;
  • numbness in the fingers or toes.

The more severe tissue damage in osteochondrosis, the more pronounced symptoms of the disease.

Treatment procedure

The tasks of the neurologist include establishing the disease stage, assessing the degree of the degenerative process and choosing an effective treatment plan for the patient. First, diagnostics is carried out involving the examination of the patient, after which he is referred for blood tests and additional examination.

Then a treatment plan is drawn up. Pharmacological therapy includes painkillers, anti-inflammatory and general restorative drugs, and chondroprotectors are also prescribed. During the recovery period, high physical activity is contraindicated for the patient. Also, a neurologist can refer to sessions of manual therapy or physiotherapy course.
