What is pediatric tonsillitis?

Danger of pediatric tonsillitis

The main symptoms of tonsillitis are the following:

• huskiness and burning in throat turning then into pain increasing while swallowing;
• temperature rise;
• woolly voice.

That is why while treating the disease, doctor may not prescribe fever reducers: the temperature will return to normal as soon as the immunity, together with antimicrobial or antiviral drugs, combat with pathogens. The temperature usually holds up to 2-3 days from the start of treatment.

Treatment of tonsillitis in children

Treatment regimen for chronic tonsillitis in children or acute form of disease shall be determined and controlled by experienced pediatrician or otolaryngologist. Drugs are selected based on the fact what pathogen – bacteria or virus – causes the infection. In the first case, antibiotics are prescribed, in the second one – effective anti-viral drugs.

The following can be prescribed additionally:

• local anesthetics (tablets, sprays);
• immunomodulators;
• vitamin complexes.
